STEP BACK FROM THE LEDGE, WOULD YOU PLEASE...

dc-comics-logo

DC is making some bold moves. Game changers, really, and it's going to affect all of us. Yes, even YOU. Why? How? And who, and when, and where...I know. I have all the same questions you do...but I also have a couple of answers.

1) What about my favorite character(s)???
Perfectly good question. You're fans, you want what you want, you know what you know. I get that. And DC gets that, too. I've now seen art from all 52 new titles, and I can tell you that your favorite characters ARE still there. Some of these books look absolutely tremendous. Gorgeous! Some of them look ridiculous and lame. I will tell you that Team Gorgeous is winning at the moment, and even if you've never read a DC title, there are going to be stories you're interested in. And just like any other story arc, any other relaunch *cough, cough, Crisis*, any other regular month of funny books published by DC....some are going to be great and some are not. Just the way it is! Don't write them all off because you're mad about the changes. The publisher (okay, CO-publisher) with whom I had a long conversation is truly passionate about the storytelling and the art AND the shipping schedule. This is an all in bet for them, and I'm pretty sure we're going to like the results. Oh, and the notion that all of those long standing DC creators that you know and love were given the boot? Yeah. Relax. These 52 titles are NOT the sum total of the DCU. Trust me.

2) Ok, that's cool, but I want to go fully digital from here on in. How do I do it?
This is the question that I've been trying the hardest to get answered. As it stands right now, you're going to go to the Brave New World site, push the button that says 'I want digital', sign up for an account, and you're going to be able to download all of DC's new titles on the day of release. ("Day and Date", as you've been hearing, simply means that the digital version is going to hit the virtual shelves on the same day that the actual comic hits our shelves.) BUT, it's not ready yet. You're going to have to be patient. No, you can't order them this week, even though you could order them from me through the new Previews catalog. You're going to have to get accustomed to ordering your books when they actually come out, and NOT in advance. Don't worry; you can do it. No, that's not the same thing as coming in to see me, Shelby and the rest of your dedicated Brave New Crew on a Wednesday morning, but if this is how you want to get your stories, then this is how you're going to do it. We will miss you! But we're not going anywhere.

C) It's not the end of the world.
I'm sure of it.
In fact, I'm SO sure of it that if you would like to pre-order the full run of 52 brand new #1's, representing the entirety of the DCU, brand new, different and exciting....I'm going to give you 25% off of cover price. Yeah, really. Normally you would only be able to top out at 20% on your entire month's order...but this time around I'm going to give it to you ALL just for trying it out. Place your order with me before the due date on the July Previews catalog...which hasn't even come out yet...and I'll make certain you get all of the books when they happen.
Make this bet with me, and know that
BNW WILL BE HERE FOR YOU.

If you still have questions about the whole thing, or if you just want to talk about it, feel free to email me.....

Thanks for your support, you guys. This is going to be good. Promise.
