Dear Principal of a Santa Clarita Valley School,

            Annually, Brave New World Comics, Santa Clarita’s premier pop culture retailer and purveyor of fun, participates in the worldwide phenomenon known as Free Comic Book Day. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 5^th, and we couldn’t be more excited!

As in years past, we at Brave New World are dedicated to the idea of putting a FREE comic book in the hands of every student in Santa Clarita. Yep, you read that right. We are offering a brand new comic book, absolutely free of charge, to every student in your school. In exchange for providing you with reading material that will entice even the most reluctant readers to take a look, all we ask is that you hand out the comics on Friday, May 4, with a bookmark telling kids and their families about our Saturday event. That’s it. Really! This year we are offering the DC Comics published “Legion of Superheroes in the 31^st Century“, starring Superman and friends, with guaranteed age appropriate content. Kids can also choose from dozens more free titles at our Free Comic Book Day event, as well as participate in FREE art lessons, FREE games with prizes, and FREE FUN for the entire family.  Additionally, we are happy to include a copy of Dr. Robyn Hill’s Secret Origin of Good Readers, a resource for any educator interested in using comic books and graphic novels as literacy tools. This acclaimed resource guide offers sample lesson plans and curriculum, as well as ‘educating the educators’ as to how comics and graphic novels can be used to get the attention of both eager and reluctant readers (Comics are also excellent ‘English as a second language’ tools!). We here at Brave New World have a long history of working with educators at all levels, and enjoy the excitement and successes that comics and graphic novels can bring to any classroom. 

However, our deadline for guaranteeing enough free comics for your school is March 14.
