Michele E. Buttelman,
Santa Clarita Signal Features Editor

The much anticipated movie “Superman” will fly into the Santa Clarita Valley in a special advance screening Tuesday at 7 P.M. “It is the first screening for the public,” said Portlyn, co-owner with husband Atom! Freeman, of Brave New World Comics, which is hosting the event at the Edwards Theater in Valencia.

“We’re honored that Warner Bros. thought of us,” she said.

Tickets for the special screening cannot be purchased through Edwards, but must be obtained from Brave New World Comics, which recently relocated from its long-time location at Lyons Avenue and Peachland in Newhall tot he yellow Victorian building at Lyons Avenue and Chestnut.

Tickets will be $35 from special VIP seats which include the best reserved seats in the theater as well as no waiting.

General admission tickets will cost $25.

“This is a special, private event,” Portlyn said. “We hae the largest theater in the complex, 275 seats.”

In addition to the film, goodie bags with posters, pins and other assorted “Superman” goodies from Warner Bros. and DC Comics will be distributed.

“We’re also having a “Superman” trivia contest. Warner Brothers sent us a bunch of trivia questions so it is going to be a very fun thing,” Portlyn said.

A rare, special comic book, which Portlyn estimated is valued between $500 and $600 will be reffled off during the event.
