To celebrate their move to the landmark
Written by Sonja Pashal Linsley, and illustrated by her son Paul, “May I Have the First Dance” is the heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking story of the father/daughter ‘dance’ from birth to death, with all of the milestones in between. As Father’s Day approaches, we are all reminded of the relationship between children and parents, and as this beautifully illustrated children’s book reminds us, time is short.
Currently Amazon.com’s number one selling children’s book, ‘May I Have the First Dance’ has also been lauded by radio personality Dr. Laura Shlessinger as “So touching”. Dr. Laura went on to say “I love this book! You’re going to be touched by this book. Everybody should get this.”.
A longtime Santa Clarita resident and CalArts alum, illustrator Paul Linsley has also dabbled in the comic book world. His first comic, Shcism, was published in 2003, to critical acclaim. His successes in the world of fine art have led Linsley back to CalArts, where he teaches courses on life drawing and painting, as well as an upcoming class on creating comic books and graphic novels.
Paul Linsley will be appearing at Brave New World Comics Saturday, June 17th from 11am-2pm. He will be signing “May I Have the First Dance”, as well as hand drawing a caricature in the front of each book. Brave New World Comics is located at
